Jefferson District Supervision Paths
Parole lets a person serve part of a prison sentence in the community under the DPS&C Division of Probation and Parole. Probation is imposed by a court and may occur without a prison release. Good-time or diminution release can also carry state supervision. These statuses may all bring a St. Bernard Parish case within Jefferson District coverage, but they do not mean the same thing.
The prison or jail release record establishes physical departure. A Committee on Parole decision may establish that parole was granted, yet processing and an approved plan can still stand between a decision and the actual gate date. A sentencing minute establishes probation. LAVNS can report community supervision and the DPS&C telephone locator can identify the district. Use the record tied to the event.
| Recorded path | What it means | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Parole | Prison sentence continues in the community | LAVNS and parole decision |
| Probation | Court-ordered community supervision | Sentencing minute and LAVNS |
| Good-time supervision | Release through earned diminution with supervision | DPS&C status and calculation |
| Discharge | Supervision obligation ends | Court or narrow agency record |
Verify Jefferson District Supervision
Louisiana LAVNS includes people under probation and parole supervision and updates every twenty-four hours. Search the exact person, confirm the reporting agency, and read the status words. A community result supports supervision, not residence and not full discharge. The district office can provide navigation where appropriate, but confidentiality can limit personal detail.
- Search Louisiana LAVNS by exact name or ID/case number and verify identity and agency.
- Read whether the record describes prison custody, probation, parole, or another community status.
- Call the DPS&C locator at 225-383-4580 for the supervision district when needed.
- Use the St. Bernard sentencing minute for probation and the Committee decision for parole.
- Contact Jefferson District for appropriate supervision navigation, while expecting statutory limits on disclosure.
The St. Bernard Parish release search helps establish the physical out event before the community-supervision inquiry begins.
Jefferson District Office Contact
DPS&C assigns St. Bernard Parish to Jefferson District. The office also serves Jefferson, Plaquemines, and Algiers. Its official page gives weekday hours. That shared regional coverage matters because St. Bernard has no separate parish probation and parole office.

The state page names the district manager, but a staff name does not create a public personal-information service. Ask procedural questions and have the full name, DPS&C number, case number, and relevant court ready. Do not infer a home address from district coverage. The office region says which unit supervises a case, not where a person lives.
Broad correctional and parole records can be confidential under Louisiana Revised Statute 15:574.12. Filed court minutes, public Committee dockets and decisions, LAVNS status, and a narrow record request are better sources for facts that may lawfully be released.
Jefferson Office Release Role
The official Jefferson District page establishes coverage and contact information. The office does not release people from a secure facility. It receives or supervises cases after the prison, jail, court, and DPS&C processes place a person in community status.
A parolee's statewide conditions direct reporting no later than forty-eight hours after release and generally require monthly reporting by the fifth, plus other reporting as directed. Those published conditions do not prove what a named person did. They explain why the correct district matters soon after release.
Probation can follow a suspended sentence or a period in custody, but it does not prove prior imprisonment. Use the sentencing minute for the legal disposition and the jail movement record for any physical stay.
St. Bernard Parole Release Timing
A scheduled parole hearing is not release. A favorable Committee decision is also not the actual departure. Conditions, a suitable plan, administrative work, and facility processing may follow. Confirm the decision through the published docket, then verify community status and the actual out date through DPS&C or the facility record.
For offenses on or after August 1, 2024, Louisiana Revised Statute 15:574.22 generally bars parole under that Part except its listed categories. Older cases and enumerated exceptions require their own statutory analysis. Eligibility only permits consideration. It never predicts a grant.
Keep hearing, grant, release, reporting, and discharge dates separate. Each marks a different event and can be held by a different office.
Jefferson Revocation Record Check
A person already in community status can later face an alleged violation, warrant, detention, or revocation process. An absconder is a person alleged to have stopped reporting or remained unavailable to supervision. That label does not establish a new conviction, a present jail location, or the original release date.
Committee revocation schedules and dockets document proceedings, not final custody outcomes. Read the decision and check current LAVNS or jail status. The person may have been detained pending hearing, revoked to custody, continued on supervision, or released after the matter. Preserve the sequence.
No current St. Bernard-specific absconder list was found on the sheriff's site. Use state and court sources, and do not turn silence on a public page into a claim that supervision ended.
Read Jefferson Supervision Records
Community supervision records answer narrower questions than jail records. They can identify status and district. They do not necessarily supply the prison gate date, residence, full case history, or final discharge record. Pair LAVNS with the court and release source.
- Parole
- Community completion of part of a prison sentence under DPS&C supervision.
- Probation
- Court-ordered supervision that may occur without a prison release.
- Revocation
- A process that can return a supervised person to custody after a violation finding.
- Discharge
- The recorded end of the supervision obligation.
For discharge, look for an agency or court entry that ends supervision. A LAVNS non-result alone is insufficient because data can change, names can mismatch, and fully discharged cases may no longer remain in the current system.
Conditions of supervision are statewide rules applied through the individual case. Reporting, travel, residence, financial, treatment, and conduct terms may appear in the governing paperwork. A public summary cannot prove compliance or violation by a named person. Use a filed decision or official status rather than rumor.
Good-time supervision needs its own label. Release by diminution is physical release based on earned credit, but Louisiana law can keep the person under state authority for a remaining period. It is neither ordinary probation nor a Committee parole grant. The DPS&C calculation and status record control.
When a person returns to jail, preserve the earlier release event. A new detention does not erase it. Build the sequence from original prison departure, supervision start, alleged violation or warrant, detention, hearing, decision, and later custody status. The revocation docket alone cannot supply all those outcomes.
The Jefferson District office's regional scope is practical after a St. Bernard release. A parish resident does not need a separate St. Bernard office listing because DPS&C assigns the parish to Gretna. Yet district assignment must not be used to infer a residence. It identifies an administrative supervision channel.
For a probation case, request the sentencing minute and later completion or revocation entries from the St. Bernard Clerk. For parole, use the Committee's published decision and LAVNS community status. For actual prison departure, use the releasing facility or DPS&C record. This division of sources keeps legal status, physical custody, and supervision from being confused.
A scheduled hearing, favorable decision, and actual release are not interchangeable. Published dockets can change, and revocation calendars concern a different process. Record the docket date and decision vocabulary exactly. Then confirm the later custody or community status through LAVNS and the appropriate office. This is especially important when a grant appears before the facility completes release planning.
Always verify office hours before travel because agency schedules can change.
The office also should not be asked to reconstruct the jail record. SBSO holds the local movement, the releasing state facility holds its out event, the Committee holds parole decisions, and the clerk holds filed court minutes. Jefferson District is the right channel for the supervision district and appropriate procedural navigation. Keeping those custodians separate improves accuracy and respects disclosure limits. If a status appears wrong, bring the conflicting official order or record to the agency that created the field and ask about its correction or notation process.
Save the date and exact wording of each status checked.
